Elderly disabled people
Changing the job is more difficult for elderly employees as it is for younger people. If an elderly employee also has an illness or disabilities, the chances to quickly find an adequate job will sink. Young employees will still be preferred by business companies. But in the next decades this demographic trend will change because of the forthcoming skills shortage and the vocational chances for elderly people with disabilities will improve.
Compared to young employees those people can bank on a wealth of experience, young employees have to gain in the course of their workin life.
In addition to the more experienced elderly employees, the change of occupation will rise in the near future. If an elderly employee can not work in his old job, a short job training based on his work experience and skills makes sense. These people have advantages compared to young em-ployees, because of their work experience.
The Vocational Retraining Centre Berufsförderungswerk Frankfurt am Main offers a huge range of short trainings from 10 to 12 months that allow a quick integration into the job market. All trainings will include a practical training in a company, which the participants choose by themselves during the retraining. The traings are designed to respond to the special educational requirements of elderly people.
